It is not uncommon to have major mould issues in a new home. Builders are making the structure more and more air tight. If a home owner does not ventilate properly, you could be in for a mouldly surprise.. |

It is amazing what could be behind that new paint or in this case, insulation. A dark area on the concrete slab lead me to the fact that the sill area at the top of the foundation was actually leaking in this new home. A costly repair that you should be aware of. |

Hidden Water Leak? |

In most cases ventilation is good. However, not in a heated space, as I found in this home. Not only was the Vapor Barrier not installed, this gap to the outside world would make the room above it very cold and expensive to heat / cool. |
